Do you push the envelope? Ignore the conventional wisdom of what is acceptable or possible. Do tell.?.?.?
I myself have always tried walk the line between fish Only and reef safe. I know there are others out there like me. Do you have a predatory tank with corals, or coralivores in your reef. This is our thread post em up!

Definitely following. I'm in the process of SLOWLY setting up a FOWLRish tank to house the must have's that I can't keep in the reef. I'm 97% certain that I will be unable to resist attempting corals in the tank at some point. Couldn't even resist considering coral placement while designing the aquascape.;)

@Viking_Reefing

This thread is for you. Let ‘em rip!
Lol apparently so.

Well, I keep or have kept a number of fish not considered reef safe (what a useless term btw) in my reef tanks.

The current lineup consists of a semilarvatus butterfly, imperator, goldflake angel, regal angel, majestic angel, copperbanded butterfly and until recently a moorish idol (the achilles killed it unfortunately)…all of which are doing fine in my acro dominated tank. Not surprising really as non of them are obligate coralivores and their tendencies to go after corals can be curbed.
I don’t see it as I’m really pushing the envelope with this lineup as I’ve kept similar fish in reefs over the past two decades but I guess it’s somewhat unconventional.

However, I’ve been considering adding a pair of Arabian butterflies for some time and that would carry a bit of risk as they, in fact, are coralivores and it could go sideways if my plan fails.

Like humans, fish have individual personalities too. Some that are "reef safe" end up eating coral, and some that are deemed "not reef safe" are totally fine with corals.

All depends on the individual fish.

I agree with @Viking_Reefing that the term "reef safe" is a pretty useless term.
