Put RODI outside?

I cant put a splitter on my washing machine water spout so am thinking if it's possible to put it outside in a shaded area on my hose connection.

I live in the se Florida area so no danger of freezing but the heat is another of concern. Anyone have theirs outside?

Can you do under a sink somewhere? I used one of these, hooked up to cold water line under sink. Then put a push connect ball valve where it was easy to reach to turn the unit of and on. I used a bathroom sink and just stuck the waste water in the sink overflow when running.

I would think you would have to disconnect the water line outside and flush that hot water out of the hose before each use outside. At least in Texas, that water sitting in the hose gets scalding hot in the summer

You should always flush your ro membrane for a few gallons before each use anyhow.
You will just want to cover the cartridges to prevent algae growth from light.

I more mean 100+ degree water is probably not good for the membrane.

I've stationed mine on my porch outside in WPB. No issues but it stays in the shade at all times. No direct sun on the unit.

I live in Phoenix and have RODI connected to my water spigot outside. I run non used water into my pool and RODI into 20 gallon container. Once I have enough RODI filled in 20 gallon, I transfer them into 5 gallon sealed plastic containers. Never had any problems. Only thing is I let water run through the unit for few minutes each time I use it. I do TDS test every month.

I don't know why you can't put a splitter on your washing machine. That's how I have mine set up. I used a garden hose splitter and screwed the single side to the machine. Then I re-connected the input to the machine on one of the double sides. My ro/di came with a hose connection that I connected to the other double side. Works like a charm. I run waste water into the machine until it's full and then run it into the drain. The input to the machine is always turned on. When I want to use the ro/di, I turn on the other side. Since the machine is off, no water will run in to it but simply runs through the splitter and then to the ro/di.

I live in South Louisiana. Mine is on my front porch facing north. As long as my unit is out of direct sunlight, I'm good. If you get algea in the cartridges, you'll have to change them. They'll clog, and it'll take forever to fill up your drum... I like it this way, because the water is really close to tank temp. Winter I just get it from my lfs, he keeps his inside in big tanks.
