Anyone know anything about this coral? I am having trouble finding anything on it. I am not even sure I spelled it right. I bought it on a whim today, the LFS claimed it is a rare coral. It looks similar to a frogspawn but it is a wall coral not branching. I will post a picture when it opens fully.

If i saw it at LFS I would just think it was a euphyllia divisa. Interesting if it is a new species or sub-species.

So it's a Wall Frog? lol Nice find :)

I was hoping to find info on placement lighting and flow, but it just keeps opening up bigger as time goes by so I must have guessed right. I will post another picture in a while even though it doesn't do it justice (I need a decent camera)

Awesome!
I would think since it's octospawn similar it would require the same conditions.

True octospawn is Euphyllia yaeyamaensis. Euphyllia divisia is often called true frogspawn. Not that the para or branching types are false frogspawn. The pictures above are closer to divisa than yaeyamaensis. The tentacles are too thin and colored tips are further spaced apart. All care is the same. Wall types are not as hardy as para ( branching ) types. That is why wall types cost more than para types. Wish i could keep the wall type but for me less than a year.

Walls are a bit more difficult to frag as well.

With all that said, have you ever heard someone call this a Putat, and is this a rare find?

No never heard that term. It just looks like a euphyllia to me. But maybe they reclassified some of them.

A few weeks ago i bought a sun god leptoseris frag. I was told it was reclassified as paraseris. Or some stupid name like that. Was told leptoseris without the visible stripping was reclassified. Reclassified names do not always take flight with sellers or consumers, unless the species looks warrant a reclassified name.
