Is putting alike corals together (in a "garden", etc.) - OK...?

Zoas next to Zoa,l Favia next to Favia, Chalice next to Chalice, etc...

Will they just grow into each other and not try to kill one and other... ?

A lot of the time, but not always, corals of the same species will play nice with each other

I have a Stylophora ready to grow into a Stylophora on its left AND right. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Generally yes. There are few exception. For example, hammers and torches are in same class Euphyllia but they don't get along if near each other.

They actually are not in the same family.
Everything except the torch’s are now in Fimbriaphyllia. So F. Ancora is the hammer coral and F. paraAnchora is the branching hammer
The only one that stayed Euphyllia is the torch which is why it can still hurt the others.

New genetic testing is moving corals around almost every year.

One of my candy canes is killing the other

Not to hijack, but do you have a build thread? That tank looks awesome!
My tank is 3 years old. I did an original build thread but really didn't keep it going with updates. It's a Red Sea XL 300 which is a smaller mid level tank for them. 80g total volume before rocks SPS dominant mixed reef. MP40s and XR15 lights. Just gave away multiple big SPS colonies so I could start new with some higher level acros. 12 fish, banded shrimp. 2 fire shrimp, 3 acro crabs. 2 pitho crabs, serpent star, bunch of scarlet hermits and snails.
