Putting an Angler into a reef?

nice score hell do great in the frag tank

Frag tank right now is bare except for him, I have a few zoas but that's it. The tank is 24x24x12, should that be big enough to house him forever?

That is a sweet looking frog...nice find.

Yea I was like wow when I saw him. The weird part is I got him at a FRAG show! The guy had him in his frag tank and I was like I have to have that guy.

did you by any chance get the angler at the coral farmers market in Ontario?

As you can see from my name I love these fish.

They very commonly will eat things 2-3 times their size. If they do, they most likely will die from having something that big in their belly, it will decompose before it is digested.

I also have tried to keep these in captivity, with no success. Granted it was early in my hobby experience. But I also found a forum years ago with a thread dedicated to keeping anglers. No one in this 15+ page forum had successfully kept one more more than 1 year.

I wish you the best of luck with this fish, but want to warn everyone that they are not easy fish to keep and may best be enjoyed in the wild.

They can eat fish much, much larger than themselves, I also new somebody that his ate a foxface to no detriment to the angler. I saw the pic it was unbelievable. Species only tank they are happier and you can control their diet better that way. They are just a big mouth and stomach LOL
