Putting hermit crabs in new tank

I’m tearing down my old tank to move everything to a new larger tank, I have two hermit crabs though that feed off of algae. Since the new tank is only cycled with no algae I’m worried they would die due to starvation. Would it be wise to leave them in the other tank until my new tank starts growing algae?

I’ve given them seaweed pellets in the past and they haven’t touched them, maybe I’ll try again.
