Hi All

I have been trying to find out (via google and forums) if putting the Red Sea Colours ABC&D plus NoPox into clear bottles is OK or it they are sensitive to light etc. The bottles they come with a completely black so I can never tell how much is left in them (I know I dose 2ml per day and could work it out). It would be good if the bottles had a clear strip down the side as I feel it is good to know if something is low, so I can order more, or has overdosed for some reason and its time to panic.

Has anyone else tried this or found any literature on it?

Cheers
Al

Good point, no you can’t tell...
They sell tinted glass bottles on Amazon in both blue and amber ... in many shapes & sizes (look up tincture bottles)
maybe play it on the safe side and use those

While I doubt it matters, some chelated metals break down under UV exposure. Since we do not know exactly what Red Sea puts in the product, it is impossible to say with certainty.

I used to dose red sea traces and always put it in clear dosing containers this is in mo way scientific but as far as i could tell it didnt make a difference, i can only go on my corals and my corals always looked fine.

Thanks everyone, I might try and find some clear-ish bottles with the same thread as the red sea bottles so i can use their caps.

Cheers Al

Another option is you could buy a cheap scale and weigh them. If the primary goal is to tell how much is left or how much was dosed.

The issue I have is the space is really tight to get at them, because of all of the dosing lines its even hard to pick them up to to shake them. I need to do a bit of redesign to be fair.
