I am presently add a addition to my home. My contractor has to remove the service from one side of the house to other. By the time the service is move , inspected, meter reinstalled he expects it to be at least 3 weeks. He wanted me to get insurance on my tank due to power problems , running a generator 24 - 7 is out of the question. So I contacted my nearest Fish store. the owner agreed to sell all the live stock and he takes a percentage. My question is how do I keep my tank that has been running for the past 5 years healthy ? There is no live stock at all in tank . Do I need to continue to run the protien skimmer and UV ? How about lights continue on the same schedule. What about water changes ? I do not expect to have my house back until September.

Id continue to use everything just adjust any alk additions. Uv wouldn't be needed imo.

Just run the tank with no light or anything. Would be the equivalent to cycling live rock in a bin.

You could also take all rock water and sand out and cycle in the large bin so you don't have to worry about contamination from what your contractor is doing.

I'd take the opportunity to change your tank around the way you like it and clean out the rock since after 5 years and the way you have it stacked there's most likely a lot of crud built up in them rocks
