I am trying to put together a DIY tank sensor for key water parameters (similar to the Seneye) and an associated app to monitor parameters remotely, provide alerts etc. Had a tank crash recently and it spurred me to look for options but nothing seems to be turnkey. I am a consultant and travel a ton and while I have someone to care for the tank while im gone Id like to keep a closer eye on these key water parameters myself.

Seems like with Reef Pi and similar options they can aggregate the data from sensors and the dashboard development would be straight forward. I think the challenge is getting quality data from sensors for difficult but critical parameters like NH3. Would need to calculate it based off other parameters unless someone has come across a better way to go about it. Would love to build on whats already been done if anyone is interested in working together.
Cheers!

Neptune Apex and Trident would cover about 95% of what you want.
Mastertronic can handle all the testing you'd want.
Outside of that, I guess Reef Pi would be the next best.

Are you using a 4-20 circuit or another type of data?

So you went right from wanting turnkey to want to DIY? That's a bit large of a swing in requirements.

Why not look at the stuff in the middle like mastertronic, GHL, apex to a lesser degree, multiple others from other companies? You could always pay someone to set it up to make it turnkey. DIYing with your own sensors is so far removed from turnkey that I wouldn't even think it was an option for someone that wanted turnkey unless you decided that you want another hobby afterall.

I wouldn't say NH3 is a critical parameter measurement-wise in a reeftank, after the cycle is done anyway. At best a sensor measuring it is going to tell you "hey, by the way, your tank is crashing" and ruin your day, you'll come rushing back or tell someone to drive by, and the tank will still be dead or in ruin.

What other "difficult but critical parameters" are you thinking about? And why can't they be made moot by an auto-waterchange-system or biweekly ICPs that will be handled by your maintenance person with you on the phone?
