I am setting up a new pump and the adaptor supplied doesn't mesh up correctly with the ones available in my area (standard to metric). Will the glue hold if I put it in like this or should I find some kind of washer to seal the gap? Or should I just apply a really thick ring of glue?

I think you may be referring to the slip end (not the barb end). It is possible that you have metric and an imperial (standard in US) pieces. If so, IMO you should use
an adapter or a difference piece. Good luck!

That appears to be a hose barb fitting. Not meant to be glued in. I would look for other options.

The hose is already glued into an adaptor.

It's for the neptune COR pump which apparently does not have a fitting for hose barbs. So am I just gonna have to let it collect dust until I get a full hard plumbed return?

Water goes to the path of least resistance never trust anything that is not fully snug when it comes to plumbing you have to be exact. I know waiting stinks but order the exact peice you need online it will save you so much work in the end.

Thanks, that's what this post is about... the adaptor fittings. Are there imperial to metric adaptors out there? It's really annoying that the neptune cor ONLY has imperial measured pvc fittings. I have some pvc pipes floating around for when I eventually retrofit to hard plumb and none of them fit with this pump.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking just needed someone to say it. I'll try and find some kind of imperial/metric adaptor for pvc..

If it is a metric to standard issue the adapters can be found at BRS:

I do not have a COR so I am not familiar with that specific connection.

It will be a problem. Since its a hose barb your best bet is to find a new hose barb that fits the fiting. Use a clamps on the hose, if your hose is not snug, to make up for the size difference.

I'm talking about the bottom portion. The pump did not come with barbed fittings.
Oh got ya now. Idk if glue would hold maybe take pump to hardware store with the peace and see if they could help ya out. Or order new pump. That comes with everything. Good luck and happy Reefing!!!
