PVC glue

So, I am using oatleys pvc glue for my tank plumbing. I want to fill my tank this weekend, and am doing all my plumbing with my dsd tonight. How long should I wait for the pvc glue to dry before I can finally add water?

If you are using pvc cement (not actually glue), it welds the joints together. It is essentially 'reef safe' immediately. I've had it drip into my sump while plumbing.

It's probably best practice to let it dry overnight though.

Oh sweet! It would have time to dry from tonight to around 7pm tomorrow.

2 hrs is plenty for the medium clear
1hrs for the hot type, usually its blue for oatley

I'd let it go at least overnight, but 24 hours is safer. I would never use it immediately or risk leaking.

With the returns, under pressure, that's probably the best.

I use oakley clear cleaner and pvc cement on all of my plumbing. I have never had an issue, but I always let it sit at least overnight as I can be a little paranoid as well.

I feel more leaks actually come from the pvc being cut and not sanded then the glue itself. I always sand the edges to make sure they are smooth before gluing to make sure they have a good seal.

I'm a fan of waiting 24hrs.... My thought is if I can still smell it, then it's probably not awesome for the tank. Just my 2 cents

Good idea. The primer smooths it down as well so I will buy some of that too
