PVC to ABS Bulkheads question

I used regular PVC cement, holds just as good, if not better.

That transition cement sucks! It has no bonding strength. The last time I used it on a bulkhead, 6 months later I was able to grab the adapter and just pull it out of the bulkhead.

As above though, I now use threaded bulkheads with teflon paste. This way they are easier to remove, and you don't have to replace the bulkhead if you need to remove plumbing.

I saw a article (or video from EMS) mentioning or discouraging against the use of Teflon tape (?). Just curious if anyone else has heard this?

Something like this??

Bingo! Key is, it's "suitable for potable water systems". :)

Slap it onto the male threads, and female threads, tighten w/ wrench and you are good to go. Make sure you have a few paper towels handy - the stuff is impossible to get off your hands (and clothes).

WOW! I used this when I replaced my water heater but never thought to use it on my aquarium. I'm definitely using it next time.

Not only does the paste actually seal better, it won't crack the fittings. THAT is a win-win :).

I used the ABS to PVC cement from Lowe’s. You still want to use the primer on the PVC side. It needs to be softened up a bit. Don’t use the primer on the ABS or it will melt it.
