I just noticed this in my Pygmy Angel today and I am really worried. I think it might just be a sting from my anemone but I am still worried. She is eating fine and it doesn't seem to affect her. It just looks like she is missing scales on the top of her head. Could it get infected? What should I do? Thanks

The only other fish in the tank is a clown fish and they don't bother each other

Is she gonna be ok?

it depends on what you can do to treat her and how quickly. If you can set up a QT and dose some antibiotics in the water she might be ok. Kanaplex, Furan2 are good options and can be combined for a wider spectrum.

Are you positive it is an infection and not a nem one sting?

I have a 15 gallon Qt but a fish hasn't been in it for awhile. Will there be a cycle in tank if I put a sponge that has been in my sump and LR in the QT?

It doesn't look like there is something in her scales. It looks like the scales are missing
I am so worried right now :(:(:(

It doesn't look like a nem sting. There arn't any reef safe meds that I think will do any good. Yes you can put a sponge from the display in the QT to help with ammonia. No I wouldn't put any live rock in there. Just the fish, the sponge, ammonia badge and some PVC. Treat for a minimum of 10 days. I hope she makes it for you.

I will see what she looks like in the morning and let you know. If its still there, i will get the qt set up

It might be too late by then depending on the bacteria involved... but yeah let me know how it goes either way.

Now your scaring me!!
I love this fish so much if she died I would consider taking down my tank :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Is the white thing protruding outward or does it look like some of her skin is missing? I can't tell from the photos.
