On liveaquaria it says that they might peck at large stony corals and clams. I have large stony corals and I plan on keeping a clam. Should I be ok if I feed enough? I have never heard of them pecking at anything.
Thanks :)

Dwarf angels of any type are a gamble. Some are model citizens and others are the bane of your tank. You will find people here that swear by them and others that will say never get one. Personally, I had a lemon peel angel, beautiful, best specimen I ever saw. Then he destroyed my birds nest in less than a day. Was also super aggressive. So off it went as much as it pained me to do so. Months later I had to try another dwarf angel and I got a potters angel, where some say they are the least likely to nip at corals. Decent citizen to date, nips occasionally but nothing the corals can't handle. So I'm still holding on to him, but watching for any sign of following the dark side. Pygmy's will be another dwarf angel that is a gamble. Personally, I love dwarfs too much not to try them out. They are amazing fish, just have an exit strategy if they don't pan out and be sure that you are willing to take the gamble.

That's what I thought :)
I just ordered one from liveaquria and it is my first online fish order. I ordered a small one so it will be 1/2 to 1 inch long. Maybe I can train him while he is small and young so he will not peck at corals. Do you think more feeding will lessen the chance of him pecking at corals?
Wish me luck :)

I've increased the feeding schedule for my tank, but I have many mouths to feed. It seems to help keep the potters in check. It never helped with the lemon peel. Good luck with the Pygmy, fingers crossed that it's a keeper

I think that they are so cute!!!!! I hope that he is a keeper too. I saw one at my LFS that was about an inch but he had ich :(
I am so happy that I order this on thoug. Can't wait to get him in on Tuesday :)

All Angels are going to be hit or miss. In my previous tank I had a Regal that was a model citizen, never bothered my LPS, SPS or clams. In my new tank I recently got another Regal and at first he was a model citizen UNTIL>>>> I noticed my Rainbow Scoly was staying closed up. Started watching is closely and noticed the center of it was gone, thought I had a flat worm or something. WELL>>>> my Regal is eating my scoly a little bit at the time. So I guess it all depends on your pain level with keeping angels, they are Dr. Jackal and Mr. Hyde:confused:

I've kept dwarf only angels in my reef tanks for years and they get a bad rap IMO (or maybe I've been lucky). In my current tank I have a multicolor, flame, flameback, coral beauty and potters along with sps, lps and softies and no issue (plus inverts, anemones, anthias, wrasses, tangs, clowns and a few misc.). However I seldom keep clams and they are known to nip mantles more so than bothering SPS (fish food after all) and they can be a little aggressive (sometimes more so... one of these killed my golden angel ). For the most part they just eat like pigs and in between graze rocks. As for what Salty1962 said I can relate a story LFS told me today. They had some really nice orange lemon peels that I just missed out on but told me how ones they kept before had eaten the center out of Acans. Currently for LPS I only have a large lobo brain and no one has ever bothered it.

Hey Baby Ray you might want to look into freshwater dipping, one of the simplest and fastest ways to reduce and eliminate all types of ich organisms, as well as flukes and lice that are parasitic on saltwater fish. This method of hyposalinity is very effective, takes very little time to prepare, and is strongly recommended as the first step in treating fish prior to placing them into quarantine. Dwarf Angels do well in fresh water dips, wrasses & tangs not so much. It's best to use RODI, preferably in a light colored container, this way you should easily spot any pest. Match temperature, ph. & add an air stone to agitate the water. The agitation will help control stress & remove pest. Five minutes should do the trick.

Good luck!

That is a good idea!!!
I would be kind of scared to risk it though
