sorry for the low quality pics, fish was uncooperative.
so previously it was all white, no black bars. should this be of concern?

I think those are just stress indicators. Fish will do that to communicate to other fish that something is stressing in their environment. Has anything been picking on him or has he been hiding?

nothing noticeable. been in the tank since mid December.

Its my guess unless they are scratch marks or something. I just know a lot of fish will develop dark lines or color changes when they are stressed by something.

Appears bacterial but hard to tell from pics.
Did it get in scuffle with tankmate or slow down with eating recently?
Has it been getting thin as of recent?

no scuffle that I witnessed.
was eating well, now it isn't. swimming head up.
Head up indicates some type if issue involving bladder and possible internal issue or parasite. PraziPro comes to mind for cure but depends in how far fish is affected

I think he's on his way out.
having trouble swimming now.
:(

Yeah then I guess its not what I was thinking. I agree with the other guy that it may be bacterial. Try seachem focus with one of their meds for bacterial infection and see if you can feed it to him (unless you have a qt).

Maybe try rally (or the new rally pro or whatever it's called. Its reef safe. I've also heard of marycyn 2 working in reefs. Brightwell has an anti bacterial med but I didnt see if it was reef safe.

I’ve had a bunch of pyramids over the years and have never seen any with those black stripes. They do seem susceptible to intestinal blockages though.
