Pyramid butterfly death

Anyone able to identify this? Disease or bacterial infection? Found him dead just now. I have another 8 pyramids which are fine and all other fish are okay. What could the markings all over the body be?

The markings are normal as time passes after death. Have all of the pyramids been in the tank very long? I suspect aggression, or if the fish are new, perhaps this one has not been eating as well as it needs.

Ah okay, it's just it seemed to have the markings while alive aswell, not that bad but a few dark patches. It has always been the smallest and like runtiest of the butterflies though tbh.
I originally had 4 which ive had maybe 3 months and this one along with another 5 were recently added (maybe a month a go)

Will be hard to confirm with dead carcass but the spots may suggest flukes or velvet
Any unusual signs you noticed before loss?

these fish are extremely prone to bacterial infections from transit.... how long have you had the batch for?

Does this fish have a different history from the others? It has fin damage and a bunged up mouth. Pyramids are weird - they’re a schooling species, but they do NOT like to allow new fish not their group, and this fish looks like it has been trashed by the others. That it was the smallest one may have been enough to cause it to be picked on.

Another common issue with this species is Neobenedenia flukes. I can’t recall getting a group of these that didn’t have an infestation. These can cause spots on the body, as well as fin damage, but it also causes cloudy eyes. For one of these to have died from Neo, you would for sure be seeing cloudy eyes in some/all of the others.
