Hey guys Im building a setup for anemones and clownfish only.
I will be using a waterbox 10g for it.
I see people having more than 2 clowns in one tank.
What is you opinion if I want to buy 4 clowns at once?
Thanks.

IMO, more than 2 clowns are not recommended for a 10g tank. Although it may be possible, clowns are wired for hierarchy and employ aggression to establish that when they feel it is necessary. In a 10g there is limited places to hide or escape the aggression especially once a female and male emerge and then the mating process begins. Good luck with the new tank!

Edit: corrected to add “not” recommended for 10g tank.

I might get the 20g then

If you have the flexibility to go with the 20g then I agree that would be a better option for a pair of clowns. IMO I still would be careful of adding more than two into a 20g.

I have 4 clowns, a mocha pair and a skunk pair, and 7 anemones in a 140 gal. Even with all that space, the skunks still bully the mochas at times. Mama skunk makes sure the mochas stay on their side of town! Lol. I had 5 in a 55 successfully, but I agree with the others, a 10-20 is way too small for more than one pair

I have a pair in my 6 and in my 14. No issues, but I did by them as non fighting pairs at the LFS from 6" x 6" mini displays. If ones larger than the other, thats a bonus also.

I just watch them for aggression, marks or torn/damaged fins. Any of those items and its a no go. Reputable breeder could be safe bet too. I know when lfs get them in, the wholesaler just threw 2 in a bag and hope they make it.
