I'm nervous about treating fish with any chemicals to kill critters, fungi, etc. I'm setting up a new 125g in-wall mixed reef. It backs up to the fish room. I'll have two Q/T 29g BioCubes, one for small to medium fish, one for corals, then a 14g BioCube as a hospital tank.

So my question for everyone. Do you pre-treat your Q/T tank for ick, fungicide etc, so why or not ?
I can not figure which option. Add them before or watch and see if the fish has issues ?

I treat for internal parasites either way and then i just observe.

I treat with copper regardless, it may seem cruel but it’s the only way I can sleep at night with all the $ I have invested in my tank. Also gets prazipro regardless as well.

And which copper ?

If you are doing copper then please also get a copper Test as you will need to bring it up and keep it in therapeutic zone. Ia m a HUGE fan of the Hybrid TTM personally as I also don't like copper.

Here is a great Chart that will help you pick what Copper you need. (If you go that rought)

Here is a great walk through if you haven't done this before.

Here is a great link to the method I use now.

I know that is a lot of info but I hope it helps!

The supply chain is unreliable and diseases are rampant. I always treat with copper first for 30 days and then for internal parasites. Contaminating my DT with diseased fish is just too scary, too much work and too costly. Had a whole QT full of fish wiped out by velvet and then bacterial infections. Happened so fast by the time I realized what was going on the fish were all dead or dying. Not going that route again.

You got it!
