Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some input from more experienced people on QT for Lyretail Anthias and Yellow Tangs. I read the post on @HotRocks current QT method and it was very helpful.
I've had absolutely terrible luck with Cuprion ionic copper, and lost two tangs in the process of quarantine. Thanks to everyone's advice on the forums, I'm switching over to Copper Power now, which seems to be much safer. I have my heart set on trying again with a yellow tang; I'm also in the market for a lyretail anthias.

I don't want to lose another tang to QT and I have read that anthias can be rough to QT. Would you recommend treating with Copper Power in a QT tank, or just going for a 72-day QT stretch of no medications (unless signs of illness are present?)

Thank you!

Anthias can be a pain. Lyretails are not bad though. I personally run all fish through copper.

@HotRocks I've got my lyretail and yellow tang in QT right now (they came from the same tank from the same lfs). Both are happy and eating abundantly :) Do you have any feedback on my current QT plan?

Due to COVID-19, I'm WFH every other week, including this week. I got my fish Monday and I'm observing this week. I'll wait another week to dose any copper since I am at work, then start ramping up Copper Power next Saturday while I'm home and spend the next 5 days slowly increasing CP to 2.0. I'll be WFH that week so I can check in multiple times per day, every day, for the next 4 days. If all is good, I will maintain treatment. If things go south, I've got enough spare water made to do a 100% change.

Thanks!!

wow... I’m in the process of setting up my QT as well. A lot of helpful information on here. I’m still trying to decide what’s the best medication to use...

All I can say is steer clear of Cuprion. Ionic copper can be effective for some fish but I've had terrible luck with it and lost more than I've gotten through QT. I've read countless posts by members having success w/Copper Power and it was recommended to me as well as a future alternative. I haven't used it yet, but will report in...

Also, I strongly recommend Humble Fish's post on Medications to have on hand. I bought General Cure, Metroplex, Focus, and Copper Power. I'm kicking myself for not buying Ruby Reef Rally, since one of my DT fish may have HLLE....Just buy it now and save yourself pain!

Thanks for the advise, I’ll take a look at that forum. I received the same advise “ it’s better to have it ready to go than to have to wait for it to ship”
