I can't figure out how people are able to get down to 0 ammonia levels in their QT. I've got 3 huge amount of seachem matrix (3 bags 2x8) full and some foam filters which have been seeding for 2 months now. I even do bi weekly water changes, but on the seachem alert badge i'm always showing at the alert stage. I don't belive I feed very heavily. i feed in the morning and when i go back to feed them at night all the food is gone. then samething w/ feeding at night and checking again in the morning. Am I doing something wrong? I use to QT 2 Chromis and i had the same issue on the alert badge, this time I've got 3 clownfish and 2 chromis and same alert stage on the badge. This is in a 20 gallon qt.

Are you using any bottled bacteria? Biosphire is my go to for bacteria as well!

First I would get a second badge to be sure yours is not defective.
If you still have issues maybe a 15 gallon water change every 3 days is needed

I use a foam filter which will harbor the biospira bacterial colony and I make sure it is the largest I can fit in my QT. My ammonia is always 0 when I use it in QT. It is very inexpensive and can be found on eBay or Amazon. Good luck!

I just did a 30% water change and dropped in a new alert badge. Still same issue.
