QT captive bred fish?

Sorry this was not supposed to be posted in "tank emergency " dont know how to change it

Depends on the source. If you’re getting it directly from the breeder then may be less necessary. If Buying from a LFS or online then I would treat it as any other fish and quarantine.

Thanks, I was thinking of ordering from my LFS and having them hold it for me before it hits there system. They order from this place

Once it touches LFS water its subject to anything that is in the LFS. I have never been crazy about QTing fish, however I really dont have that many, but still have no had any disease issues basically ever (take that as you will). With coral, everything I add gets a dip regardless of where it came from.

I QT and/or dip everything, regardless of the source. Disease can get into any system.

I do differentiate between QT and medicating though. I would still QT a captive bred fish coming straight from a breeder, but depending on several factors, may not automatically medicate.

Spending a few weeks spoiling your new fish with a private buffet and closely watching it is a worthwhile investment. It gets to be more of a no brainer as your DT fills and the potential for loss becomes greater. Both in lives and dollars...

Two hours from where I live there is a large clownfish breeding facility. They literally have thousands of fry. While I was touring their massive facility we came across a large section of tanks with no labels and no lights. I asked about them. Was told there is an unknown disease in this system that they cannot eradicate. They stopped selling fish out of that entire section and are trying different medications. They have had fish go from that system to other tanks and literally wipe out everything. Yes QT every fish before it enters your DT.
