Heyo reef fam!

I want to set up a QT tank for corals, inverts, and possibly fish in the future.

My reef club is hosting a meeting next Sunday (Aug 19th) at our LFS and I know I’ll want to buy a few new corals. I plan to set up a 20L with a HOB filter that I will set up on my DT tomorrow to seed with bacteria.

I currently run two AI Prime HDs on my 40b. While I could buy an additional one for the QT tank, is there a more affordable way to light the QT tank for the coral?

I have read humblefish’s sticky and my plan is to QT them for 76 days and keep the temp around 79-81 (which is where my DT operates daily).

Is that length correct if doing a coral dip (Coral MD) and then Bayer Dip?

Do I need to run a skimmer? How often should I do WCs? Do I need LR or sand if only doing corals and inverts this time around? What’s the best way to feed snails, which are the only inverts I’ll be adding to QT this round.

Thanks in advance!

Quarantine tanks for coral are different than fish.
First of yes the light you have to worry about.
You mention that you could put a same light over it as your DT and that is the best choice you can make.
Many cutting corners on that and corals go through a Photosynthesis stress.
Secondly you don’t want any fish Chems in the coral tank mainly copper.
More flow is important as well as you said it a skimmer, a HOB will do but a good coral quarantine setup has a sump as it could also work for ya as frag tank.
