The fish that looks like a tang in the back…those blotches remind me vaguely of uronema but could also be some other sort of bacterial infection.

We’re they all in the same QT?
How large of a tank?
how long were they in there?
What meds?
Water parameters?

see if we can deduce what happened. So it doesn’t happen again.

Sorry to see that.

If the fish show rapid breathing and sudden death, but invertebrates in the tank are fine, it is almost always Amyloodinium, velvet, If you can't use invertebrates to rule out fish disease, then it could also be low oxygen levels or water quality problems. We'd need more history on this to really be able to say. Here is a link to information that is helpful for us to know:
