Qt Filter

If you do go with that option, you're going to have issues with the fact that the filter cartridges have carbon sealed in them. You don't want to run activated carbon in a QT since it'll strip all the medication out. Personally, for qt, I just run one of those bubble powered sponge filters. Generally your QT tank is small enough that you just maintain the water through waterchanges, not a filter.

I use one of these, I just use the sponge. The sponges are pretty cheap so I float one into the sump until time to setup the qt and then put a new sponge in the sump to start seeding it.
I'd get one rated for at least double your tank volume and also run a small powerhead. Many medications reduce the available oxygen in the water so you don't want to skimp on surface agitation in a qt.
