I am putting a diamond goby into QT to treat for ich. Should I add sand to the QT? Is there a downside to adding sand in the QT? I actually have a couple bags of sand left over from setting up my display tank that I can use. It is live sand, just didn't know if that would cause an issue with the copper meds.

@Humblefish recently posted on this subject. The amount of copper absorbed by the sand is very small. Just test frequently, initially to keep track of your levels as you ramp up.

An alternative would be to use a tupperware dish of sufficient size filled with sand. I've done this and would toss out the sand once a week to keep it fresh and clean. Worked pretty good.

Thanks Gary, I guess I missed the post from @Humblefish

Here is the thread.

Thanks for posting this. Was a good read. I will add the sand to the tank and make sure to monitor the copper levels 2X daily
