I have a 15g QT tank all set up and running for over one month now.

I want to make a purchase of a goby that burrows and presently the QT tank has no sand on the bottom, just live rocks and some pebbles. So, my question is if I am to QT the new goby for a few weeks , 2 weeks, do I need to add a bunch of sand so he has something to do and eat?

How does everyone QT their new gobies?

I am tagging along I was wondering the same thing. I would guess that the goby would need some sand in there for him.

I have heard for sand burrowing animals in quarantine you can put a dish/bowl of sand in for him. When you are done with QT just toss the sand especially if you medicated the fish or if the fish had any signs of disease or parasites.

Ok I also come across this on the web for QT of a goby " please at least put a 1 inch layer of sand in your quarantine tank to help prevent stress that leads to disease". hmmm this will be interesting pulling that much sand out of my tank , I'm assuming seeded sand is better then new sand.

So I guess though it is not mandatory it is better for the goby so they don't get stressed even more. Two weeks is a long time so I better keep it happy and healthy.
