Do we have any guides to the steps one might take to QT various types of fish? Lets say someone, perhaps a reefer that goes by Seastar wanted to get a pair or wrasse and not wipe out his tank with marine velvet like the last pair did. This reefer that may or may not go by Seastar knows they are sensitive to most medications and that dosing the normal recommended amount probably isn't a good idea but still wants to make sure he's being responsible this go around. Anyway.. hopefully you get where I'm going with this.

Wrasse vs clowns vs tangs vs dwarf angels vs etc, etc, etc.

If you can get ahold of CP then use that. If not, then go with TTM + Prazi and then watch for a couple weeks to ensure there isn't any velvet or brook involved. If you dont like those options, go with copper, but use a chelated copper like CopperPower. I dont have a guide like your talking about and haven't seen one, though it's a great idea! We should work on that......

I'd sure love to see one. :)

I started reading on TTM a while ago and quickly realized I'm already doing far too much work on all of this to be lugging those extra buckets across the house. Who knows... if that really is the best way to keep healthy wrasses I might have to go through with it.

Had to rule out CP for now but definitely want some in the future. I have CopperPower and Prazi, do those work together or is that a no-no?

Yeah. that works and should be fine. Just raise the level slowly and make sure you have the propper test kit to measure high range copper. API will work, though I'm not a fan of trying to read the slightly different shades of yellow.

I'll have to get with Humble and see about making a guide like that. Pretty smart ;)

The best protocol for med sensitive fish is TTM: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/tank-transfer-method.192655/

Or you could go with hyposalinity, but that's not always effective against ich and some fish seem to struggle while in hypo conditions. You also can find yourself in trouble while doing hypo, if you suddenly need to use meds to treat something like velvet or brook or a bacterial infection.

One nice thing about TTM is you can abandon it at any time and begin treating with meds. Or actually combine TTM with deworming (Prazipro), treating a bacterial infection (antibiotics), or even prophylactically treat velvet/brook by performing a formalin or acriflavine bath 1 hr before the next transfer. Since no other meds are in the water whilst doing TTM, you have a lot of optons/wiggle room.

It's actually a really great idea! Seems like it would be fairly feasible and not too difficult. Some sort of columns and rows cross grid system/chart would be great. Fish is on the left, recommended treatments up top, find your fish scan right fir recommended treatments.

I went over this again last night and I am convinced I can lift a few buckets across the house if it means a healthier ecosystem. Sometimes we just need it pounded into our head a few dozen times.
