Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new to reefing and I'm running into a problem with several Chromis and several Anthia's that I have in QT. Praying you guys might have some advice for me! The fish are in a 20 long and we are now on day 6. Started the QT process on day 1 with Copper Power, tested with a Copper Hannah checker at 1.0, and one scoop on SeaChem Metroplex in the WC. Over the next two days, I increased Copper Power levels to 2.0 by the end of day 3. Sadly on day 4 one of my Chromis developed red Uronema like lesions on its sides and about 8 hours later, died. Today, day 6, I now have a second Chromis that will not leave his PVC pipe enclosure unless I move the pipe. I don't see any red lesions at this time except a patch on his side that has none of the blue/green color, its just silver. He will take small amounts of food that I've treated with Focus and Metroplex and then returns to his hiding spot. I have a friend who can loan me his QT that I can have set up and running in 2-3 days. At this point, I'm not sure what to do? The Copper Power and Metroplex don't seem to be helping much, any suggestions? Freshwater baths? Move all fish into new QT? What would you treat the new QT with? Thanks for any advice!

Hey James, Sorry for your struggles.

Humblefish wrote a great write-up and procedure you can follow if you like. I like to hear you are already treating the insides of the fish as much as you can. You will find a couple more options in Humblefishes write-up.

Also sounds like treating the outside of the fish with Peroxide helps a lot as well with anything that might be plaguing your fish on from the outside.

You are making good moves, just know Chromis and Anthia are notoriously tough to keep alive because they are just so prone to such harsh disease like Uronema.

Lastly take a look here and see the section for Chromis and see if you can get any ideas...

Good Luck and your fish are in good hands. You are making good moves!
