Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new to reefing and I'm running into a problem with several Chromis and several Anthia's that I have in QT. Praying you guys might have some advice for me! The fish are in a 20 long and we are now on day 6. Started the QT process on day 1 with Copper Power, tested with a Copper Hannah checker at 1.0, and one scoop on SeaChem Metroplex in the WC. Over the next two days, I increased Copper Power levels to 2.0 by the end of day 3. Sadly on day 4 one of my Chromis developed red Uronema like lesions on its sides and about 8 hours later, died. Today, day 6, I now have a second Chromis that will not leave his PVC pipe enclosure unless I move the pipe. I don't see any red lesions at this time except a patch on his side that has none of the blue/green color, its just silver. He will take small amounts of food that I've treated with Focus and Metroplex and then returns to his hiding spot. I have a friend who can loan me his QT that I can have set up and running in 2-3 days. At this point, I'm not sure what to do? The Copper Power and Metroplex don't seem to be helping much, any suggestions? Freshwater baths? Move all fish into new QT? What would you treat the new QT with? Thanks for any advice!

I would post in the fish disease forum. Metroplex should treat Uronema, however, you should be using 1-2 scoops, per 10 gallon, so your only at half the dose (at best). I would treat at two scoops per ten gallons (4 scoops total) at the recommended frequency. Other more well-versed members may have additional guidance. Copper will not help.

Thanks for the information, I didn’t know that about the 2-4 scoops and feel awful about it. Not sure how I messed that up! I did cross post in the fish disease forum so hopefully more eyes will see this, I’m praying I can save these fish! Thank you!

Ok sounds good. To be clear, I would dose 4 scoops total of Metroplex to the QT tank at a time. Sorry your having trouble - same thing happened to some Chromis for me a while back - except I didn't know about metro. Please take some time to read @HotRocks QT protocol. It is involved, but I used it religiously, and I am completely disease free in my display. No monkey on the back for me. All you need else, is General Cure.
