QT/Hospital tank setup

So i just ran to petco to get stuff for a QT tank. I wanna know if my setup i plan in doing is correct.

I have a ten gallon tank with a HOB filter. I plan on swapping the carbon filter out and replacing that with floss. Then my idea was to cover the i take falve as shown with a sponge. I purchased two sponges so i can have one in my DT collecting bacteria. My plan is then to fill the tank with display water and have fresh new water on hand. I have a heater and planning on an open top and no lighting. I still need a pvc pipe. Is this okay?

Looks good. You still also need a heater and ammonia badge. a small powerhead or air stone is a good idea as well since a lot of meds will take up available oxygen in the water while in use.

I do have a heater. I will look at some airstones...is my plan with the sponges and floss good ideas?

Sure! Anything that holds more bacteria and wont absorb meds is a good idea.
