im in the process of setting up a new tank (build thread --->https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/noob-sea-reeefer-625xxl.518143/#post-5442349) I'm about 3 months out from it being wet so i may as well start QT inverts now. i was thinking about buying a brightwell bio brick and seeding it with microbacter7 and putting that in one of my qt tanks, probably a 10g with a heater and small hob filter then filling it with my current running tank water (my tank is ich and velvet free) then putting the inverts in that for the next few months. I was going to buy 30 tiny nassarius snails, 15 trochus snails and 15 drawf hermets. i know i won't need that many right off the bat but i can just keep them in the qt until needed. i also have a 20g long but wanted to keep that one open for qt fish.
thoughts???
thanks

It's a great idea to QT them, but they will need to eat or they will starve.

Yea for sure I’ll feed the hell out of them and do water changes the whole time. I’m thinking that may be too many inverts in a 10g tank. I should use the 20g long and seperate the crabs and snails with egg crate

Nassarious snails are typically something you would add later since they don't eat algae... they are meat eaters. It's a good idea to quarantine them early so they are ready, though. But, they burrow down into the sand until food is introduced to the tank, so you might need sand in that quarantine tank.

The hermits might be going after your trochus snails for their shells. Probably good to separate.

Think about a bunch of cerith snails as well. Much smaller and easier to get into those small rock crevices.
