I read throughout the forum and understand qt and dipping roughly - I just received a few feather dusters , coral banded shrimp , porcelain crab , a couple basic polyp and mushrooms.

how do I treat ? please clarify . thanks, newbie

Generally you will have no need to quarantine new inverts (unless they're in a bad system where u got them from/ if they look ill) I usually just acclimate mine accordingly and drop em right in my DT

With corals if you want to dip, there are a few product options... there are dedicated coral dips that should have instructions as to how to dip, otherwise you could pick up a bottle of 'Bayer advanced Complete insect killer' and mix 4/5 parts tank water with 1 part insect killer. Place coral in dip for 3 mins, use a toothbrush and lightly scrape any hitchhikers off the coral, rinse with tank water (outside of the tank) and then place your coral in the tank!

yes i read about the corals and i have seachem reef dip /
and peroxide ?
concerned about the tubeworms and shrimp ... i really dont want to wait til they sluff

With the seachem, you can get 1/2 gal of water from your tank and add about 5 ML of the dip.. then let the coral sit in it for about 15 mins

It'll take care of all hitchikers that may be harmful to your tank... I would still advice taking a toothbrush and lightly scrubbing the coral (easier with hard corals) don't aggravate the polyp corals too much because zoas and palys can release a toxin dangerous to humans

I'd wear eye protection if dealing with them for more than a couple mins

I'd avoid peroxide... I haven't heard anything positive about using peroxide in this hobby for anything other than sterilizing used aquariums
