I have a 30 gallon QT system with a MP10 and HOB continuously running for 3 months and it has been treated my previous group of fish for ich/fluke with coppersafe + prazipro. This group of fish are now in my DT.

Got 4 randall's anthias from LA and they are settling in this 30 gallon well for a week. I am having another order of 4 Dispar Anthias + 1 Rainfords Gobby (tank raised) comming from BlueZoo Aquatic tomorrow. I was wondering what is the protocol of QT this time?

1 of the 4 Randall's still having white stringy poop so I am treating with Metro soaked food now. Contacted BlueZoo and asked about their QT protocol. They mentioned they didn't run any copper for their fish. They also noted that the tank raised Rainfords Gobby eats anything from their bluezoo mix (dry food) to frozen/live brine shrimp. But they suggested Rainfords would do better in a more natural QT with live rock and algae in it.

Since I performed 2 rounds of fallow period on my DT and my current fish in DT are 100% parasites free, I don't want to risk any chance to introduce parasite from new adding livestock. So what is the best suggestion of QT for the new acquired I listed above? I am planning to fix the white poop now and move on to next QT course as below.

1. TTM + prazi followed by a long observation time maybe a good choice. But I had one mix result with TTM last year. Lost trio anthias at the very end of last transfer. Red sore on the body before they died which I believe it was either bacterial infection or uronema. In addition this time it is 8 anthias + 1 gobby. I have 3* 20L which I did TTM last time but it was really a pain to fill, drain and clean for 20L... I also have bunch of 10 gallon but for this amount of fish I may need to do two rounds of TTM with the 10 g... Lastly is TTM won't treat velvet. But on the other hand if fish has velvet they might not be able to live the whole course of TTM at all.

2. Coppersafe might be my second bet but I need to be very carefully watching their response while I ramp up the copper dosage.

I think I will make a call depending on how the new anthias and gobby's feeding and behavior in the non medicated QT. Any suggestion would be welcome!

Thanks,

Louis

I think if you are comfortable with TTM, you could do that. But, since anthias are prone to uronema it might be worth doing metroplex in the water with TTM first, and then run Prazi during the observation period after.

Thanks. I think I will do copper first after they all settle down in 30 gallon by ramping it up slowly. If something goes wrong I can switch back to TTM later. 20 gallon TTM is a lot of strenuous work...

I would still consider the metro, for good measure. Or at least keep it at the ready. It can be used with copper provided you have plenty of O2 exchange to compensate.

Yes. I am mixing metro with food for current anthias now. Was thinking for metro in water as bath after other 4 anthias arrive.

Bad news. After floating to match the temperature I put all the new arrival into QT. (Matched salinity as well) I didn't notice that my QT powerhead was tuning too high, 90% on MP10. And right after introducing gobby in he was barely swimming in the current. After about 5 minutes I noticed goby was blowned by powerhead and I started to see his nipping pectoral fins and swimming side ways... my bet was he got accidentally sucked into MP10 and been blowed & damaged by the propeller. Gobby started to lose his balance and couldn't swim with lethargically breathing. I put him into a small container inside the QT and an hour later he passed away...

This Rainford Gobby is small, probably just pass an inch. I tuned the MP10 to 90% since my current Anthias love swimming in this high surge setup. I forgot to back down the MP10 while introducing this delicate small gobby. Blame on me.

New acquired Dispar Anthias seems settling well in the QT, except for two Dispar were hiding in the PVC with one of my original Randall's. Rest of the Anthias were exploring the tank together now. I got one original Randall's turned into male, so this male is chasing and picking the rest of the Randall's and some of the new Dispar in the moment.
