I knew that... I think it was either just a rookie mistake or a glass of wine too many that night. The copper level was never above 0.5 when I tested though. Either way, lesson learned the hard way. I don't think I'll let the level get above maybe 0.4 for the next one? The transfer tank method gives me anxiety because I feel like that creates more stress for the fish than Cu, but maybe I'm wrong. Definitely something I'll look into.

It really doesn't sound like you did anything wrong so I wouldn't jump into changing anything. Again, others more knowledgeable my comment on it but it really looks like you did everything just about right. Next time you know what to look for to get them out of the copper treatment if you see these signs again. This hobby just has a tremendous learning curve!

I promise you it's not as bad as it sounds. I've used this method for a while now on several very sensitive fish with success. Most of the fish I have QT'd spend a lot of time hiding, but they come out to eat and once they are in the display are very hardy and happy. You don't have to do it this way of course, but it's something to keep in mind for the next time you come across a fish that is sensitive to copper.

Like already stated, you did well. The fish was just sensitive to the copper and now you know what to look for the next time around.

@kloweeeeee Next time you use copper, take 4-5 days to reach the full therapeutic level. This eases the fish into the poison. First symptom of copper intolerance is usually appetite suppression.

Yea, I will definitely ease into it slower and watch more carefully. I've always followed on R2R, but this is the first time I've asked my own question vs. blind googling and searching the forums.

I really appreciate you all being here for those "uh oh" moments and the entertaining articles/threads to enjoy when I'm not freaking out about a tank or two.
