Hello all, not sure if this is the proper place for this but here goes.
So i currently have a 29g QT tank with 2 clowns being treated with prazi. About to do the water change and add carbon tomorrow.
I have my 150g cycling but would like to be able to add another fish with it besides the clowns once done.

Can I add a foxface to the current 29g QT with the clowns?

I know this would restart the QT period, but I wanted to treat them with copper anyway as I didn't QT them first when I initially got them and subsequently have lost several fish to various diseases and want to start my 150g out on the right foot.

Also, if I want to continue keeping my QT going, what exactly does that entail after treatment which I plan on copper and prazi? Do I need to sterilize the tank again and restart, or just use the cuprisorb(i think that is what its called?) and run carbon?

Thanks! Just trying to do this right way from here on out.

You can add the fox face, but like you said you will need to restart the QT process. If you plan on adding copper to the QT then you need to do several water changes to make sure their is no prazi left as mixing to two can kill fish.

It is best to sterilize QT between treatments so you are starting with a clean slate.

I always start with copper treatment and then after that I do several water changes getting my copper down to almost 0 ppm before starting any type of prazi treatment. I use GC vs prazi as it seems to be gentler on wrasses.

Thanks! I should have stated its actually GC i was using not Prazi. How much of a water change? 100% over like two weeks?

I will start that in the future to do copper first then GC.

If you had another tank to move fish to then I would recommend doing a one time 100 percent change, but since that isn’t a option, a few water changes will work. Remember, for every 50 percent water change you will drop the ppm by 50 percent, so it kinda works like this example, let’s say it’s at 10(just an example) after a 50 percent water change it will go down to 5, then 2.5, then 1.25 and so on.

So in theory its never "gone", so at what point is it an acceptable level?

If you are using GC like you said then a few high volume waters changes will work as their is less Prazi in GC than standard Prazipro. That’s why most of use use copper first then prazi/GC as we can measure copper. If you do something like 3 50 percent water changes over a 3 day period then you will get it down to almost nothing which will be fine.

Hey @Billldg, just following up on this. My fish have cleared QT and are in the display now, I was curious and want to confirm my research.
If I do a 50% change it would bring my copper down to 1.085ppm as it is currently 2.17ppm.

I can add fish directly into a ~1ppm environment as long they are obviously not sensitive to copper correct?

I have only tried it on Copper Power, if that is what you are using then yes as I have done it several times with no issues. After doing water change I would test it to make sure it went down roughly 50 percent.
