I am working on my new build and due to my tank wipe out, I will be QTing everything going into the new tank. My new build is a Nuvo 30L. Final stocking will likely be 2 clowns, a tailspot blenny and a small wrasse/pygmy angel.

With this stocking, what would be a good QT size? I have a JBJ 24 Nanocube that I can use but it seems a bit big if I am QTing in batches.

I also have a Fluval Spec V on hand that fits great inside of my stand. Originally I was planning on using the 5 gallon as a coral/invert Qt but I am wondering if it will be big enough to house 2 fish at a time given their small size. I will be doing pazi and copper treatments during QT for the fish. Once all the fish are done being added I would convert it to a coral QT to let them run fishless for 72 days.

What do you guys think? What tank should I use for QT? Should I just go out and by a 10 gallon instead?

I wouldn't use less than a 10g.

You also don't want it in your stand, because you shouldn't have the QT within 10ft of your DT to prevent cross contamination.

Do you think that a 24 Nanocube is too big a bulky to be an effective QT for the fish then? It just seems silly to go buy a new tank when I have everything I need to set up a QT already. Would a 10g be that much better to work with?

I'd use the 24 all day.

I treat fish in 55s, even tanks as large as 125g.

The more volume the better for a QT IMO. It does get more expensive to medicate.

Thank you for the advice. I will use the Nanocube 24 as my QT the and I will separate it from the display.

Ill just use the 5 gallon for corals then.
