I’m setting up a last minute 5G QT tank:

It’s for a sunrise dottyback.

Any more tips/tricks you guys have? I decided to go bare bottom, just because that seemed to be the most popular method.

I plan to use media from my 29g to ‘instant’ cycle this tank.

Ok, going to add him in now.

Tests came back as follows:

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: <10ppm

Water temp. is approximately 74F.

I would place a pvc pipe or something for the fish to hide away in , too much openness may cause stress and bring on illness - opposite effect of QT lol

Added some rock work just so he could hide. Seems to be doing OK, considering:

Now starts the long and boring process of eating 2-4 weeks.

ANY thoughts from you guys?

Ah, ok, I will look for some. Will the cave do for now?
Looks ok, when I mention hide I mean something where the fish is able to be out of line of sight , totally hidden like a cave. Fish needs to feel secure and not vulnerable , some fish dgaf and it depends on the personality but I like to provide hiding places in case you get a scared fish.

Gotcha. He seems pretty content hiding out around the rock structure, but I’ll just have to keep monitoring him.
Looking good , I might have to QT one day lol. I’ve lost fish within 2 days of getting them sadly. Hoping yours is all well

This is what I have been following when setting up my QT:

Here is what I have been doing with my QT that may help:
