QT tank and well water

Hey quick question regarding QT and well water.

My well water is high in CO2 which destroys my DI resin quickly. So, trying to save as much RO water as possible, would it be a problem using well water in QT?

Hard to say really, without knowing what else might be in the well water. For example, chlorine, ammonia, misc. toxins, etc. Have you ever had a water sample tested?

^^ agree, i used tap water few times when i ran out of rodi and had to do wc, although never didnit on DT. I know my tap water comes from desalination plants as we dont have FW here. For well water i would be worried about other elemnts dissolved with water, probably high carbonated which might cause co2 reading. If you are not sure about it then dont risk it.

Agreed. It depends on the well treatment. Ours way back when in the country was not treated at all. IMO, you could just use the RO portion, I believe that's the chloramine buster, and its not likely to contain it anyway. Its more common in cities. easy google and the water specs should be on the local GOV water site.

generally the concern is other contaminants not good for coral, like naturally occurring copper.

Thank you guys! I kinda figured that without knowing exactly what's in the water may pose a problem. The only time I've had the well water tested was when I purchased the home a year ago. I'll try and find a copy of it and see what I can find.

If you have high iron in your well, you can get an iron removal system which subsequently injects air into the water as part of the treatment [emoji16].

That's what I did but it was because of the iron itself. Air injection and therefore co2 reduction is a side benefit.
