I set up a new 10g tank for a qt setup. bare bottom, heater and large sponge filter. I dosed dr tims and followed his steps to a T. On week 3 I finally got zero ammonia. during the ammonia spike it never went over 2ppm. I tested nitrite on week 3 and had over 200ppb on my hannah I used a api nitrite test that my GF had for her beta tank and it showed 5ppm as that was the highest reading. My hannah reads in ppb and I didnt have any other test so that's why u used her api. Api makes a nitrite test that works for both marine and fresh water so I assumed the test in her "master fresh water" test kit would be the same formula. Idk why they would make a test for bother systems but only use a fresh water test I the master fresh water test kit. 3 days ago I did a 50% water change per Dr tims steps and today I'm still reading 5ppm or more. Do I just continue to wait or did it stall and I need to start all over or do another partial water change? I emailed Dr Tim and haven't received any email back. Thanks.

That was too complicated for me to answer at the moment.
Look into Hanna Checker conversion tables and get the nitrates closer to 25ppm or less and everything will be fine.
Or
Change all your water and again everything will be fine.
