Hey reefers I wanna set up a qt tank. But I have a couple of questions on the set up. Let’s say I have a 10 gallon tank and I put pvc pipe and 2 sponge filter and a overflow filter and a heater. My first question is can I use water from my main display tank so it’s already cycled? Or is it just best to start new and cycle the tank? Second question using cuppermine I would add the half dose for the first 48 hours then add the rest to proper dosage? And would I do a water change every week or 2 weeks then add the copper again? Any help would be great

I would try to get some plastic plants or fake corals as well, the more hides for the fish the better. The bacteria is in the rocks and sand not nearly as much in the water so just using water from a cycled tank does not cycle a new tank. It's best to cycle the tank with sponge. As for copper it's best to slowly ramp it up over the course of 4 or more days. And when doing a water change you want to dose your freshly mixed saltwater with copper BEFORE doing the water change in order to maintain the therapeutic copper level at all times.

/And I would do a water change weekly unless I detected ammonia then I would do it as needed to keep ammonia undetectable. But it's also key to keep the tank as clean as possible, never leave any uneaten food or waste in the tank so be on top of that. You can always net out or siphon out waste as needed.
