QT tank. Will it work outside?

This is my QT adventure. Its going to be Outside. I'll be testing water temperatures for the next few days to see if this is at all possible in the Arizona desert. Let me know what you think!
 
Outside is probably a great option because of gas exchange and needing more oxygen when running a medicine like cuprimine... as long as you can regulate temperature and keep rainwater/dew/frost out.
 
This morning water temperature measured 62.4. Outside temp is 44. I didn't have the heater plugged in as my GFCI isn't working. Also wanted an idea how hard the heater would need to work.

Maybe some insulation on the outside of tank while it's still cool.
 
Yes insulation is a must! this just isn't working well. The temp falls so much in the desert, and this small volume is too effected.

I've always liked the idea of having a large outdoor sump. like the 4' x 4' titan shipping bins. Now I'm loosing my resolve!
