QT water quality

how important is low nitrate and phosphate in my QT? I know that ammonia is a must to monitor and alkalinity is important, but I'm curious about the other elements. Thanks for the help.

For fish, all you need to worry about are ph, salinity, and ammonia. For corals, in addition to the above, you need to worry about others such as phosphate, nitrate, magnesium, kh, and iodine.

Got my five survivors in a 20gal Qt now for three weeks. treating with Cupramine and testing every other day or so. Reading with Seachem test is consistently good. Ammonia monitoring with Seachem ammonia alert. Been doing 25% water changes weekly to keep in check.
Today I measured Nitrates - approx 20ppm; Nitrites - .5ppm; Alk - 9.0dKH; Salinity 1.025; pH - 8.2.
Was not sure if I should be concerned about elevated No3 & No2 but found my answer in this and one or two other threads. Thanks everyone.
