Hi everyone,

I was able to get my DT setup this past weekend and started cycling it.

My original thought was that once cycled, I would add a couple clownfish directly to the DT from the LFS (small, saltwater only store). For future fish, I would setup a QT using media from the DT.

Is this a reasonable plan, or should I absolutely QT even the 1st fish?

If I must QT right away, is there a way to shorten the lead time so that I can QT while my DT is cycling?

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn’t risk even the first fish. Things like uronema cannot be killed without complete sterilization. Others may require a fallow period of up to 76 days if something got in.

Biospira or Dr. Tims one and only are good for boosting the bacteria and setting up QT tanks.

JMO but QT everything “wet” from the beginning and it’s one less worry along the way.
