Hi all so after losing my original fish due to whitespot. I started again and brought a yellow tang, foxface and flame angel for my 40 gal qt tank. All have eaten like pigs since day 1. The flame would peck at bits even at day 1 of no cu. Cu levels have been at 2.5ppm copper power now for 11 days. No ammonia. Salin 1.024. Today the flame angel died. No sign of external parasites. Is it the copper thats done it or chances are interal parasite?

If the copper level is at 2.5 ppm using a reliable checker, I believe it is highly unlikely that the copper was the cause of death.

Did you buy from a LFS or on-line? What food have you fed and how much? Did any of the fish show aggression towards the others? Starvation and aggression for newly aquired fishare often bigger issues than one might expect in my opinion. Was the stomach pinched? Was the fish flashing prior to death? I assume the fish was not lethargic or hiding?

Without more information and pictures before death, its very difficult to diagnose more specifically.

Hi pal. No aggression. Stomach wasnt pinched but still only pecked at food. Where as the foxface and yellow tang are pigs. Even now in cu. Foods were mysis, vitalis premium pellets and algae pellets, nori. No flashing. Has me stumped. I use the hanna checker so i know the cu level is ok. During the 11 days its tested 2.48-2.52 even after wc.

Forgot to add. Im now at day 11 of 2.5ppm. Had the fish for a week prior to this and ramped up cu towards the end of the week. Got them from my lfs

Wish I could be of more help. As I said before, starvation and aggression from other fish have been two problems I've encountered from time to time, but they can be difficult to diagnose. I've had new fish last 3 or 4 weeks while only nibbling at food before eventually dying. Sometimes its difficult to estimate just how much nourishment they are getting. I lost a couple of coral beauties that way. On the other hand, a bi-color angel I got at the same time I got the second coral beauty has been with me for 15 months and pretty much rules the tank. The coral beauty was definitely skinny. I have no idea how aggressive the bi-color was towards the coral beauty when the lights went out. I suspect a lot.
