Hey all. Im at day 12 qt with copper power. Its been measured at 2.48-2.52ppm cu since hit therapeutic using hanna checker. I lost my flame angel yesterday :( no signs of external parasite, yellow tang is eating and foxface is eating. Also 2 small clowns are eating and swimming fine. Does cu have to stay at 2.5 for the full 30 days or after 14 days can it be lowered to a lower therapeutic range so not as stressful on the fish

Needs to be the full 30 unless you're doing a tank transfer method. If copper power drops below 2ppm at any point during the QT it won't really work and you basically have to reset the clock. Read your previopus thread, sounds like the flame wasn't eating great from the beginning? I'd guess poor collection method and lots of resulting stress is the culprit.

Thanks buddy. Yeah never ate any pellet just some mysis and that was it. Would i benefit from lowering to say 2.25ppm at the halfway mark so a little easier on the fish or keep it as i have at the 2.5ppm mark

Those fish can survive 30 days. If you see them stop eating you can decide if you want to terminate treatment early, but don’t stop it just because one fish died.

Selecting healthy fish that eat limits the losses you’ll get in QT.

Thanks for the reply. Ill keep going at it then. Just a bit gutting after my original wipe out then doing everything by the book this time around

If it makes you feel better, I kept my yellow tang and foxface in copper for 45 days and they all survived and are currently thriving with no ich.

You may as well keep it where it is. The difference between 2.25 and 2.5 as far as the fishes health is concerned is pretty negligible. Keeping everything stable and the fish happy and eating is the best thing you can do now.

I wouldn't drop below 2.0 if keeping fish in the same tank.

If you have another tank that is for sure free from ich and velvet, you can move all fish there with no copper after 14 days of therapeutic copper.

Yellow tang has stopped eating now :( copper measured at 2.5ppm earlier today so that side is all good. Just gone down hill quite fast. Any suggestions

Darn. Do you suspect something else to be going on, like internal parasites?
