If you use filter floss a good bit from a established tank do you need to cycle? Water filled is also from an established tank? For my QT tank.

I am no expert, but my understanding is the bacteria is not in the water it is on the rocks and the other surfaces. I would assume you have to the cycle or at the very least be prepared to do water changes as soon as your parameters start to swing. The usual suggestion is to get the ammonia badges and monitor very closely

I have a ammonia badge. And I have a lot of filter floss from an established tank in my HOB filter.
