QT????

I know I need to quarantine. But what all do I actually need as in equipment? I know places for the fish to hide. Do you leave it setup all the time? Do you always have something in it to keep the tank's bacteria alive and the tank ready? I'm not going to be adding critters fast. Do you quartine inverts or just fish? I have an canister filter I was thinking about using for QT, would this work? what media should I use?

You don't need to leave the QT setup up all the time. You can just set it up a couple weeks before you need it and use tank water to fill it. A simple power filter or canister filter works great. Float a filter sponge in your sump for a while and transfer that to your QT filter and you'll have a nice start to your biofilter.

I don't QT inverts. I always QT fish. Depending on how you QT will drastically affect what you can QT together. I usually don't medicate unless I see something, but some people medicate right away.
