QTing chromis and other fish together?

I bought a blue tang, coral beauty and a yellow wrasse 4 days ago and QTing with copper power. They are doing fine: feeding and swimming well.

I want to add a few blue green chromis to the same tank for QTing. Would it be safe as chromis are susceptible to Uronema? Or would I need to QT chromis separately?

It would be relatively safe, but adding fish after a quarantine cycle has begun resets the clock to day one, and doubles the chances of bringing some disease into the tank.

Uronema is a protozoan that is found in most aquariums, nobody knows why it affects certain fish like this, but it isn't highly contagious - the fish either get it or they don't.

That said, this has gotten to be such an issue with green chromis, that I don't buy them any more.

..the reason and the only reason for that is due to the risk of getting ich in free swimming stage with the new fish?

It should NOT reset for any other stage of ich that might come with the new fish right?

Well, the clock resets because the new fish could bring in any disease, and you need to quarantine them with a full course of treatment, not just whatever treatment schedule remains with the first fish. For example: I suggest folks run 30 days of coppersafe and then 2 weeks of Prazipro. If you add new fish after three week, they will only get 1 week of copper, and that isn't enough. It is the trophont stage on the fish themselves that I would worry about.

Ok so if we forget about other diseases and just only focus on ich, adding new fish would NOT reset the clock for fish who has already been in there as,
- copper won't kill trophonts already in new fish if any
- copper will kill any free swimming infective stage theronts if any due to new fish.

so you should be able to transfer fish who are mid way through Qt and continue the course for the new fish added?

It's a gamble as the new fish added to QT may be bringing in something to a group of fish that are disease free. Remember that QT isn't because fish are sick but because they MIGHT be sick.

Ideally, you would use a different tank for the Chromis you want to add.

My suggestion is to be patient. Finish the QT on the current fish and then start over with the Chromis.

I second this. Either run 2 QT tanks or just wait. Chromis are usually not hard to find.

Sorry, see my similar post in the other thread. The amine bound Copper products are not 100% effective right away, and the ich timeline is not set in stone. You need to build in lots of overlap in timing else you may not stop the disease.
