QTing Leopard Wrasses

Three weeks, two of those being above 1.5 ppm as the first was a ramp from zero.

That is very strange, as you shouldn't be seeing much, if any, precipitation at 3 weeks. Are you sure there isn't something else in the tank which might be absorbing copper? I continue to use Caribsea Fiji Pink in 2 of my copper QTs (mainly for Leopard Wrasses), and have observed no noticeable decrease in the copper level once it hits my target of 1.75ppm.

Also, how are you testing? Hannah checker or something else??

Hanna checker, I checked it three times yesterday after not doing so for four days and it had dropped from 1.71 to 1.55. I wrote the results down as 1.56, 1.55, 1.55, Cuvettes were fresh for each test, I have a lot of them between the various checkers. As a precaution I restarted the 30 day timer after getting it back up to 1.75.

Would bacteria additives for the biofilter affect precipitation at all? I did put more rounds of Seachem Stability in the leopard tank as it wasn't online as long as the other one was (only cycled for about a week vs four weeks - no fish were in either during that time only a couple small food pellets were added). I did not though see any sort of percentage loss like this, and both tanks raised almost lock step in PPM between Coppersafe doses. It's only in the last 9 days or so that I've had to keep adding copper.

Today it did test at 1.73, which I believe is within the margin of error for the checker (last night 1.75). The other tank tested at 1.74 (1.75). As noted, they have identical equipment and set ups, the only difference is a pyrex glass bowl and sand, aside from the bio load (blue star wrasse and three 1" greenbanded gobies vs blue flasher, 1" redhead goby and a 1" springers damsel).

Thanks for trying to make sense of this.

@Kyl

Which reagents are you using?

The 25 packs made for the checker?

Or the larger bulk (100 count) packs made for the portable colorimeter?

So whatever was going on, since the tank re-obtained ~1.75ppm it's been testing 100% perfectly. Since June 13th when the 1.78 reading was taken after dosing copper again, it has never dropped below 1.76 the entire time and I've tested roughly 9 times since then, every day for the first week. I have to rule out reagent issues, as I was testing both QT tanks at the same time with reagents from the same batch packet and the other tank never showed a dip like that.
