Can you QT macro algae without killing the algae or the pods?

My goal is to make sure no pests or bad bacteria cross into the tank. I realize the less tank water that crosses into the DT the better. Should I keep it in a QT to make sure ich, velvet, flatworms and all the other nasties do not travel into the display tank? Is there a dip for the algae that does not kill it or the pods? What are your pratices when it come to macro algae and why?

About a week ago, I got Chaeto for my Biocube and I was wondering the same thing. Firstly, I ended up breaking off only a small section (think half golf ball). I figured the less I used to begin with, the less chance of hitch hikers. Then I used Bayer dip in the same amount recommended for use on coral. However I rinsed with fresh saltwater 4 times and let it sit in the last cup overnight (under fluorescent light) to make sure it wouldn't turn brown or die. The next day it looked great (no color change) and I put it into my refuge where it was been for about a week. Already seems to be growing and the Bayer did not affect the Chaeto.

I believe anything can carry over diseases, including macro. If you have fish youd have to quarantine for the amount of time it takes to kill off those diseases like itch. I think bayer will kill the pods though
